Best Vanilla Ice Cream Recipe
Makes 2 quarts of the smoothest, creamiest ice cream you ever tasted.
- 4 cups milk
- 4 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 8 egg yolks
- 3 tbs vanilla extract
In a heavy saucepan heat milk, cream and sugar stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is hot. In a mixing bowl whisk the egg yolks to an even consistency. Take about one cup of the hot mixture and slowly pour it into the egg yolks, whisking constantly until smooth. Slowly pour it into your hot mixture in the saucepan, whisking constantly. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, and almost begins to boil. Do not allow to boil or mixture will curdle.
Stir in vanilla and pour into ice cream freezer and process according to manufacturer's instructions.
